Humble Beginnings
It all started in 1999 with a small shop in California run by lifelong cycling enthusiasts. They were dissatisfied with the pedal options on the market and set out to design products that matched their own high standards.
After months of development, the first Issi pedals were born. Focusing on quality materials and clever design, these pedals offered a level of performance, customization, and durability not seen before.
Word quickly spread among passionate cyclists who were thrilled to finally find pedals suited to their needs. What began as a humble passion project soon grew into a full-fledged business.
Expanding the Vision
In the early 2000s, Issi expanded beyond California to serve riders nationwide. We added new pedal types including road, mountain, urban, and gravel models.
Our goal has always been to support cyclists of all kinds – not just hardcore racers. Whether you’re a weekend warrior or daily commuter, we make pedals to power your unique ride.
As our catalog grew, so did our reputation for innovation. We released the versatile Thump and Stomp pedals which provide flexibility to ride clipped in or loose. The Flip pedal took customizable pedals even further by allowing riders to choose their pedal feel on each side.

Thump
The Issi Thump combines the freedom of a platform pedal with the option to lock in. One side features our proven clipless system. Flip it over to ride on the grippy platform side. The low-profile design keeps pedal strikes to a minimum.
Stomp
Take on aggressive terrain with Issi Stomp pedals. These burly pedals have a clipless side and spike-studded platform side to stick every landing. The extra wide, chamfered platform gives a stable base for challenging trails.
Flip

Our Process
Creating exceptional pedals requires an exceptional process. Each Issi pedal goes through a journey from first sketches to final quality checks. Here’s a look behind the scenes.
Design
Our product designers are passionate cyclists first and foremost. Their deep experience in the sport informs the constant quest for better pedal performance. Countless sketches, 3D models, and prototypes precede each new product.
Testing
Pedals that don’t hold up don’t make the cut. We rigorously test prototypes in house and with a select group of real-world riders. torturous lab tests reveal points of weakness. On-bike testing uncovers even more insights.
Material Selection
To build rugged yet responsive pedals, materials matter. Pedal bodies and spindles require different properties. We select the optimal blend of metals, composites, and synthetics for each pedal based on its unique demands.
Manufacturing
Our California factory employs advanced CNC machines to produce each component with extreme precision. Skilled technicians hand assemble every pedal and fine-tune the fit and feel. We oversee each step from design to finished product.
Quality Control
Before any pedal ships, it must pass our stringent quality checks. We inspect tolerances, test engagement, ensure color uniformity, and verify performance under load. This extra attention guarantees products worthy of the Issi name.

Dale
CEO and Head Designer
Dale kickstarted Issi from his California bike shop in 1999. He led the expansion into a full-scale pedal company. As head designer, Dale draws on his decades of riding to inspire each new Issi creation.
Anne
Production Manager
Anne oversees daily operations at the Issi factory, coordinating projects and personnel to keep production running smoothly. Her keen eye for detail ensures only perfect pedals make it out the door.
Marco
Lead Test Rider
Marco heads up Issi’s real-world pedal testing program. He works with a team of skilled test riders that put prototypes through their paces and provide detailed performance feedback. Marco’s passion is creating the perfect pedals to boost rider power and endurance.
